Week #3
Red
Sox vs. Indians
After
a rain out caused the team to have their second game moved to a
Thursday, the Red Sox seemed a little rusty at the start. But by the time the
first inning was over, the Red Sox had worn off that rust. Great
defense was played by the players of the game Darius Robinson with his
great effort at first base, with an unassisted put out. The other defensive
player of the game was Anthony Tykane, who played great defense at second base.
With a runner moving from first to second, he fielded the ball and tagged the

Stars!
Expos
vs. Indians
Teeball
was made for days like today.
Sunshine and blue skies greeted these storied franchises. The national anthem started the game
right at 11AM, and the home team Indians took the field first. The Expos bats were alive, with lots of
singles culminating in Matthew Coret’s 9th batter triple! Wow! On defense, Expos’ superstars Jake Sneed
at P and David Brooks at 1B continued their hot play at those positions. James Chelliah again had an awesome hit
and scored a run. Game balls were
awarded to Jake Sneed at P, and also to Matthew McDonnell and Matthew Coret, who
together did such a great job at P and C in the 4th inning. Coach Kevin was proud of all his little
Expos!
Heat
vs. Red Racers
It
was a cool spring evening for the Yellow Heat’s 2008 season opener, but the team
came out with bats blazing. Coming
to bat at the top of the inning, all the players showed off their excellent
hitting and base running skills, specially their power hitter Joe McDermott (#3)
who hit a line drive for a single and RBI.
In the bottom of the inning, the infield showed hustled to every hit ball
and made several good plays, while the outfielders backed them up with coverage
of the open bases. In one play,
pitcher Connor Knight (#1) fielded a tough grounder to the mound and hustled
over to tag the runner out at 1st. In the following play, Connor again
fielded a grounder and made a fantastic throw to 1st baseman Joey
Rodgers (#8) who stopped the runner from advancing. It was a great first game and all the
coaches were pleased with the effort and hustle that the team showed. The fans were delighted and couldn’t get
enough pictures of their favorite stars.
Go Yellow Heat!!!
Racers
vs. Heat
The
weather finally cleared and the Red Racers were lined up for the National
Anthem; the excitement was building for our kids first ever
Tee-Ball game! All sixteen(16) Racers came to play in their bright red
uniform shirts. The team 'raced' out to take the field which is
fortunately enclosed by a fence; otherwise, some of the kids might have just
kept going. Logan Marek was excited on the pitchers mound and charged the
ball quickly, throwing to first base each time. Michael Hardin
charged out from his catching position when it was his play and threw some
strikes down to first; he also flew around the bases for a home run as our last
batter!! Mateo Barajas raced our parent helper Lori out to the outfield
and helped make sure no hits reached the fence; great job Mateo!! The Red
Racer cheering section was by far the most loud and enthusiastic crowd at the
Tee-Ball fields that night! All the kids had fun and everybody won!
We are looking forward to a GREAT season!
Week
#4
Racers
vs. Ice
A
chilly wind couldn't stop the enthusiasm of the Red Racers as we warmed-up
before our second Tee Ball game! The sun was out and the crowd had come to
see if we could play more than one inning this week! The Racers got to bat
first and Caleb Strohbeck started the hitting parade by ripping a shot off the
tee and running to first! Hailey Breed followed with a striking hit and
ran so fast we could barely see her; she also came in and played pitcher later
in the game and did a great job! When it was the Racers turn to field,
they showed off their ready positions! The magnificent fielding
combination of Megan Jech (at pitcher) to Alec Cross (at first base) showed
why they are considered some of the best future prospects in Tee Ball when Megan
charged a ground ball and threw a one bounce strike to Alec who scooped it up
and tagged first!! THE RACERS GOT AN OUT! Way to go Megan and
Alec! Jonah James played GREAT at third base and ran really
fast! The game was
interrupted briefly when an ice cream truck turned around in the condos behind
our field, but all the Racers were facing the right way again shortly! In
the end, everyone had a great time and we played TWO WHOLE INNINGS! Way to
go Racers and Ice!
Yellow
Heat vs. Bandits
The
threat of rain could not douse the hot bats and great hustle that the entire
Yellow Heat team brought to game 2 of the 2008 season as they hosted the
Bandits. Having put their opening day jitters behind them, the Yellow Heat
played like seasoned veterans. The Heat infield, Pitcher Connor Jable, 1B
TJ Burk, 2B Madison Cushing, SS Hailey Cushing and Terran Mathis, 3B Kevin
Forbes and Catcher Joseph Rogers, controlled the top of the inning with great
hustle to all infield hits and crisp accurate throws. In the bottom of the
inning, all Heat bats were ablaze especially power hitter Joseph Rogers who hit
a searing line drive for an RBI single. Completing a great offensive
inning was Nathan Rudd who rounded the bases and slid home to beat out the tag
at the plate. All the coaches were happy with the way the team is coming
together and improving their baseball skills. Fans, players, and coaches
left the field feeling very good about the game. Go Yellow
Heat!!!
Pirates
vs. Padres
The
Pirates and the Padres played a very exciting game on saturday. The game was
close the entire game. On defense, the Pirates were led by Matthew Koska, Kate
Praetz, and Carl Aiello. Offensively, Jacob Delgado, Carlos Hamblin, and Ricky
Bjork all contributed big hits. The Pirates game ball went to Matthew Lopez for
his hustle and teamwork throughout the entire game. All the parents commented on
how great both teams played. Keep up the great work!
Astros
vs. Saints
Looking
rusty after a 11 day layoff, the Saints were set to play the American League
South Astros in a inter-division game. Once again playing great defense combined
with solid offense, the Saints were led by players of the game Ryan Jacobs who
went 3 for 3 and scored 3 runs in the lead off position. The other player of the
game was Aaron Birkett who went 1 for 2 with 1 run scored and a RBI. Keep up the
good work Saints!
Nationals
vs. Colts
The
Nationals ran the show in Game 4! In the first inning,
Tristan Maltizo and Ellie Jacques scattered outfielders with base hits to
round the
bases. In the field, 3rd baseman Joshua Westrom
snatched a pop fly that was intended for the fences. Jason Fornek
foiled the Colts effort to load the bases when he tagged a runner out at
1st. Later in the third, Tristan scooped an in field ground for a
2nd base tag. Tristan was on fire! In the six inning,
Alaina Grosvenor and Jason Fornek left no stitches on the ball when it was
launched to the outfield, bringing in AJ Casmer and Joshua Westrom, who put
the “H” in hustle. The Nationals are on a high and their bringing
the pain to Game 5! Watch out!
Stars
vs. Phillies
Spring
still has not showed up this season, but somebody forgot to tell that to the
Stars. They played more like the boys of summer than the boys of no
spring. Their hitting and fielding was like watching a volcano erupt-lots
of fire power. Kennedy Branch was awarded one game ball for some
outstanding plays at second base and some well-placed hits. The other game
ball was awarded to Vincent Becker for the three-run single he recorded and good
play at catcher. Karl Brooks made some good plays at first base-especially
the line drive he caught in the first inning. Deyoola Arowolo was really
smacking the ball this evening. Coaches and parents agree that the Stars
are rapidly improving with each game- it is fun watching them play. Next
up for the Stars will be the Dodgers
Thunder
vs. Riptide
It
was a beautiful 70 degree Friday night when the Bolingbrook Lil' Tees Purple
Thunder faced the Riptides. The Riptides were up first
with Nora Rosenbaum making a
stop on the second hit of the night and promptly throwing it to first.
Some of the other big stops were a hustle by Christian Melendez and a catch at
first by Nick Rohwling to bring
the Thunder up to bat. Payton Robinson started the line-up
for the Thunder. Following shortly after was Katie Marchione with a power hit to
first as well as another hit down the third base line by Maxwell Vogel. Left handed
hitter, Micah Cain had a strong
hit putting him at first with Palmer
Domschke ending the game with a hit to the outfield, allowing him to
easily round the bases and slide into home.
Expos
vs. Knights
The
Expos purple machine continues to roll along, as new players shine each and
every game. Coach Kevin was very
proud of all of the Expos players, who received 0 “thrown bat” warnings. Great job! Excellent play in this game was shown by
the Lean, Mean “John Williams” Machine, who brought his big stick with him and
had several awesome hard hits!
April Price was terrific at back up in RF and at the plate, hitting 4
runs home tonight! Maya Dunn had a
great game too, with several hard hits and great base running. All of the Expos had a great night at
the plate, but none like Luke Baumann, who slugged out his first Expos career
home run in the 1st inning.
Wow, way to go “Iron Man” Luke!
Soon, the whole town will be talking Purple!
Week
#5
Express
vs. Saints
The
makings of a great game was in the works between division rivals home team
Express and the visiting Saints. After a solid start to the game the Saints lead
by Joey Roche as the offensive player of the game by going 1 for 2
with 1 run scored and RBI was the key to the second inning for the Saints. Alex
Adams the other player of the game went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and excellent
defense in the field to also help lead the Saints. Look out Coach Pitch, because
the Saints are "Marching In"!
Monarchs
vs. Knights
The Monarchs had hot bats today, with many players really
connecting. But first the Monarchs started in the field. Trevon
Freemon had a pick up to get the batter out at first. Then Ison Robinson
tossed the ball to Noah Loesch to get the 9th batter out. Carson Lee hit a
double to really get the Monarchs going. Tyrese Bell had a RBI.
Bryce Pampuch and Abigail Knoepfle both ran like crazy to get on base.
Noah finished the inning with a home run. Nick Korondiewicz had a strong
inning at third base with a tag out at home. Singles in the second inning
came from Wyatt Mattson, Shane Frantz, Trevon, and Gabby Ramos. Topping
off the inning with a triple was Trevor Borland and finishing off the at bats is
Carson Lee with an RBI as the 9th batter. The third inning in the field
went fast. Noah Loesch grabbed a line drive and then threw to Trevor
Borland at first to pick off the runner. Noah and Trevor combined again to
finish the inning. In the third inning Nick Maldonado had an RBI. Then
finishing the game, in the fourth inning at bat strong singles came from Evan
Correll and Frankie Maldonado. Bryce Pampuch finished the game in
spectacular form with a grand slam home run!
Expos
vs. Yankees
Today
was the best weather day this year for the Expos and Yankees. A 9AM Saturday contest, Coach Hieu and
Coach Kevin had a hard enough time just getting the kids on both teams
awake! A spirited Memorial Day
rendition of the National Anthem got everyone pumped, and it was time to PLAY
BALL! Danny Herbeck got the
visiting Expos going with a nice hit and we were off. Great effort in the field by Jake Sneed
(P) and David Brooks (1B) anchored some smart defensive plays. Trevon Mayfield had his hardest hit of
the year, earning him a game ball.
Brothers Joey and James Chelliah continued their awesome play for the
Expos, each with 3 awesome hits!
Cole Peterson shined today, smashing the ball and hitting home 6 Expos
runners. Defensively, Cole was
excellent today, earning Cole a game ball!
